New Vice President for Finance Glen Shor

Dear MIT faculty and staff:
 
I am delighted to share the news that Glen Shor, currently Secretary of Administration and Finance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will join MIT as Vice President for Finance (VPF) on January 26.
 
As a member of Governor Patrick's Cabinet, Glen has been responsible for managing the state budget and for overseeing the 17 agencies responsible for the core administrative functions of the state government. Prior to this appointment, Glen served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Health Connector, overseeing the Commonwealth's public health insurance Exchange; as Assistant Secretary for Health Care Policy and Deputy General Counsel, and previously as Policy Director in the Executive Office for Administration and Finance for the Commonwealth.
 
During his tenure with the Governor, Glen successfully managed a complex and consequential state budget in an extraordinarily complex management environment, and collaborated effectively with agencies responsible for delivering services while advancing best practices in financial management.
 
Before serving in the Patrick Administration, Glen was Senior Policy Counsel and Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General of Massachusetts, a senior policy aide to former US Representative Martin T. Meehan, Chief Counsel to US Senator Charles E. Schumer, and a public-interest attorney. He holds a BA from Yale University and a law degree from Harvard University.
 
Glen brings exceptional financial, operational and leadership skills to the position of VPF. He has a deep commitment to service and a collaborative leadership style that resonate with the MIT culture.
